Pump As Turbine (PAT)

KBL’s Pump as Turbine (PAT) is a unique pumping solution that can be operated in reverse as a turbine for generating micro hydroelectricity (up to 100 kW). In a PAT, the turbine is actually the impeller of a centrifugal pump “running backward” and the generator is simply the pump’s induction motor.

The initial cost of KBL’s PAT solution is almost half the cost of a conventional hydro turbine of equivalent size. The cost-efficient PAT pump is primarily used for meeting smaller energy requirements in industries. The pump facilitates better returns on investment.

KBL’s Pump as Turbine (PAT) solution installed as a full-fledged energy generation unit, is not just helping companies and government projects in reducing their energy costs but is also being considered as a potent alternative for combating global warming. The Tansa Dam Project was benefited with 350,000 units of annual power generation capacity using KBL’s Pump as Turbine. It is ideal for facilitating supply of hydro power in manufacturing set-ups, buildings, hotels, etc.
